Day 1

Welcome to the enchanting city of Marrakech! Our guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to our Riad (lodging). This evening we will have a warm Welcome Dinner, a delightful introduction to the country’s culinary and cultural richness. Savor a feast of traditional Moroccan dishes, including flavorful tagines, couscous, and aromatic spices. The Welcome Dinner provides a perfect opportunity to get to know our road sisters for the journey ahead. Overnight Marrakech.

Day 2

After breakfast, we’ll explore the city and its hidden secrets. We unlock the rich tapestry of this vibrant city. Led by our knowledgeable guide, we explore the UNESCO-listed medina, where narrow alleys lead to historic landmarks such as the Koutoubia Mosque and Bahia Palace. Dive into the lively atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa square, where street performers and markets captivate the senses. Wander through the serene beauty and learn about the city’s history, culture, and traditions. This guided tour promises an enriching experience, providing insights into the captivating blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy that defines Marrakech.  We’ll have some free time this afternoon before meeting back up for dinner. Day 3

Today after breakfast, we leave Marrakech behind. Our destination today is Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Transfer time is approximately 4.5 hours. This ancient ksar, or fortified village, boasts a mesmerizing collection of earthen clay kasbahs. Also known as “Morocco’s Hollywood”, it has been used as a base for many films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, Gladiator and even Game of Thrones. As we explore the narrow winding streets and climb to the summit, our guide will unravel the history of this iconic location, known for its well-preserved architecture and cinematic appearances. Learn about traditional construction techniques through time to understand Morocco’s architectural and cultural heritage. Along the way you we will enjoy a short hike in the Zerkten Forest, a place surrounded by cedar and pine trees, and perfect to absorb the tranquility of the Atlas Mountains. Once we are at Ait Ben Haddou you will have the option to go horse riding as the fading sunlight casts a warm glow on the earthen architecture. The experience combines the serenity of a horse ride with the breathtaking beauty of the sunset, creating a unique and immersive way to appreciate the timeless charm of Ait Ben Haddou. We’ll get checked into our charming adobe Riad and will have dinner. Overnight Ait Ben Haddou.

Day 4

Today we start our day after breakfast with a short transfer to Kasbah Amridil in Skoura, a well-preserved kasbah, dating back to the 17th century, stands amidst lush palm groves in the Skoura Oasis. Its distinctive clay walls, towers, and courtyards showcase the intricate craftsmanship of the local Berber builders. Next, we visit a women’s cooperative that produces rose products and Moroccan tea. We continue in the direction of Dades Valley, a stunning oasis nestled between the dramatic landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains. Known for its breathtaking scenery, the valley is characterized by lush greenery, terraced fields, and traditional Berber villages. The Dades River winds through the valley, creating a picturesque setting with vibrant flora against a backdrop of rugged mountains. Here we’ll enjoy a two hour hike through the captivating Dades Gorge; and discover another striking landscape, the impressive, eroded sandstone formations called the Monkey Fingers. It is simply mesmerizing as Mother Nature shows off her spectacular rock formations, also called “Cliffs of Tamlalt”, as they present themselves like fingers rising from the river.  We’ll check into our unique Riad and enjoy another delicious dinner.  Overnight Boumalne Dades.

So many unforgettable moments – dinner with Moroccan women in their beautiful home in Marrakech to dinner with women in a Berber mountain hut. Morocco will be an experience I will treasure always because you take us to the heart of the country – the women.

Day 5

We’ll start this morning with breakfast before we begin our unforgettable, bucket list experience. The day starts with a transfer to Rissani where we will visit a market renowned for its lively atmosphere and diverse array of goods, including spices, textiles, crafts, and traditional Moroccan products. Also, in Rissani you will have a chance to visit a fossil workshop that showcases a variety of fossils found in the Sahara Desert, including ammonites, trilobites, and orthoceras. Visitors can observe the intricate process of extracting, polishing, and crafting these fossils into unique and ornamental pieces. Next, we are transferred to Merzouga to ride camels across the sweeping sands of the Sahara as the sun sets – it’s one of the most magical memories in travel. Our destination is a luxurious camp! These upscale camps offer comfortable accommodations with a touch of elegance. Your journey across the mesmerizing dunes will allow you to experience the vastness and serenity of the desert landscape. As the sun sets, the golden hues create a magical atmosphere, as we check into our glamping accommodations for the evening. We’ll enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine with our Berber hosts, maybe enjoy a campfire, stargaze under the clear desert sky, and revel in the tranquility of the Sahara.  Wow, what an experience!  Overnight Sahara Desert.

Day 6

Today we start with a short hike (optional – 1 hour) to climb up the highest dune near to the camp to watch a magnificent sunrise. As the first light begins to illuminate the dunes, venture through the soft sands, witnessing the shifting colors and textures of the desert landscape, watch in awe as the sun paints the sky with warm hues, casting a mesmerizing glow over the endless dunes. We’ll have breakfast and get ready to be transferred to Tinghir where we will meet with the locals for a cooking class. This experience invites you to discover the art of traditional Moroccan cuisine in a cozy setting, learn the secrets of preparing iconic dishes such as tagines and couscous. Immerse yourself in the rich flavors and aromatic spices that define Moroccan gastronomy and savor the fruits of your labor in a delightful and authentic dining experience. Yum! Check into our Riad and have dinner. Overnight Tinghir.

This trip has left an indelible mark on me and will leave me searching for more adventures in the years ahead. These days were full of color and life which will enrich my spirit even as I sit in the dark rooms of my work.

Day 7

After breakfast, our day will start with a short transfer towards the Atlas Mountains for a hike through a lush palm tree plantation. Explore the scenic beauty of the oasis, where towering palm trees create a verdant canopy amid the arid surroundings. This approximately 5 mile hike offers a very good escape into nature, providing a refreshing contrast to the desert landscape. After that and lunch, we head to Todra Gorge, with its towering rock walls that surround us as we navigate the narrow canyon. Here we have an optional rock climbing experience waiting for us. We’ll admire the rugged beauty of the landscape from a unique perspective.  At the end of the afternoon, we are transferred to Ouarzazate to check into our cool riad and enjoy our dinner. Overnight Ouarzazate.

Day 8

After a delicious breakfast we will be heading towards Marrakech. Along our journey of approximately 4 hours, we have a chance to enjoy a short hike with a scenic drive, immersing yourself in the changing landscapes as you journey from Ouarzazate to the trailhead. The hike provides a fitting conclusion, allowing us to absorb the diverse beauty of Morocco one last time before bidding farewell to this enchanting destination. Experience the natural beauty and serenity of the region as we traverse varied terrain. We arrive back in Marrakech, where we reflect on the memories of our journey while enjoying the vibrant energy of this captivating city. Check into our riad and enjoy an amazing farewell dinner. Day 9

After breakfast, enjoy the hotel amenities before our transfer to the international airport for return flights – or choose to extend on your own in Magical Morocco!
