Women’s Adventure Tour in the Tetons and Yellowstone
We’re wild about Wyoming! The spirit of the west is alive and kickin in Jackson and our National Parks. We’re bringing this trip back for 2024! Hiking in the Tetons rewards us with inspirational views and maybe a moose or two. Kayaking on Jackson Lake is pure serenity and our horse ride outside Jackson is an iconic western experience. Yellowstone’s wonderful waterfalls and the spectacular golden canyon are a trip highlight. See all the best geysers and boiling pools while hiking around Yellowstone. We are poignantly reminded of the past while watching the bison graze. These mountains and thermal areas are surely the jewels of the National Park system. Prices in and around the parks have skyrocketed, however due to popular demand, we’re still staying 3 nights inside the Parks. Sometimes we need to experience the unique beauty, and understand that preservation and protections come at a cost. Also, prices won’t be going down. So join us on this bucket list trip to experience the best these two iconic parks have to offer – with wonderful lodging, food, activities and of course, the best Guests and Guides around!
Tetons and Yellowstone Activities at a Glance
Tetons and Yellowstone Itinerary
Day 1
Fly into Jackson Hole, WY arriving by 3pm. Your Canyon Calling Trip Leader will meet you off your flight in baggage claim at 3pm and drive to our lodging in town. If you arrive earlier, feel free to Lyft into town and store your luggage at our hotel. We’ll meet up as a group this afternoon, get checked into our lodging, and take a chair lift up to the top of Snow King Mountain for great views of the Tetons. A perfect vista of the places we’ll visit during this exciting week. Then it’s off to our favorite brewery to enjoy our welcome dinner. Overnight Jackson Hole.
Day 2
After breakfast, we’ll drive to a local ranch for a two-hour trail ride! This horse ride in the Bridger Teton National Forest includes wondrous views of the Hoback area, Snake River Canyon Area, and the Teton Range. The horses are well trained so a novice can complete this scenic and fun horse ride with great photos and a feeling of being in the ‘real west’. Return to Jackson for a picnic lunch in the park, then take our time as we drive north into the Grand Teton National Park, with the beautiful Teton mountains as our backdrop. Check into our cabins at Colter Bay, and dine at the Lodge restaurant. Overnight Colter Bay, Grand Teton NP.
The scenery and activities were absolutely awesome. I never dreamed I could have spent a week with such a diverse group of women and had such a wonderful time.
— Kelly K, GA
Day 3
It’s hiking day so we’ll eat a hearty breakfast at the Lodge. It’s also a busy day on the trail so we’ll get an early start to beat the crowds. Drive to Jenny Lake and catch a boat across to the trailhead. We hike to Inspiration Point and Hidden Falls for wonderful views, and back into Cascade Canyon with the Tetons towering all about us. Hopefully we’ll see moose near the creek or in amongst the spruce trees. This is a hike of approximately 6 miles with undulating terrain at an elevation of approximately 6,800 feet. We’ll be back on the boat before lunch and head back to Colter Bay to dine. This afternoon we’ll kayak on beautiful Jackson Lake, enjoy the serenity of this lovely area, and relax before having a delicious dinner at the Lodge. Overnight Colter Bay, Grand Teton NP.
Day 4
After breakfast we drive north up to Yellowstone National Park. We drive through Hayden Valley, where it’s very likely we’ll see the beautiful bison roaming. We’ll spend the day in the splendor of the Yellowstone Falls area – in their own magnificent grand canyon! We’ll hike and enjoy many scenic stops including Artist’s Point and the iconic Upper and Lower Falls, Grandview, and more. The Yellowstone Falls area is arguably the best scenery in the Park. There’s plenty of time to hike around these beautiful view points and drink in the scenery. We’ll lunch at Canyon Village or pick up a picnic lunch to enjoy outside. We’ll continue our day exploring this area, including the visitor center, and learning about this iconic national park. Overnight Yellowstone NP.
Thanks for an awesome week! I loved the chance to try so many different activities – and the scenery was exquisite. The best part of course was the great bunch of girls!
— Dottie N, NJ
Day 5
After breakfast, we’ll drive north to explore more of Yellowstone NP including Dunraven Pass, the Tower-Roosevelt area, and Mammoth Hot Springs area. We’ll have lunch and hike to see the silica terraces, a marvel to behold. We’ll drive the Upper Terrace area and hike around the Lower Terrace area, then enjoy a number of stops as we head south. This whole day is dedicated to experiencing the beauty of our Yellowstone National Park. So many fascinating viewpoints including Norris Geyser Basin, Artist’s Paint Pots, and more. We’ll take it all in at our leisure. We’re off to West Yellowstone to check into our accommodations and enjoy dinner. Overnight West Yellowstone.
I just recently returned from my trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. I can truly say that this trip was very special! Our guide, Karen, was very knowledgeable, accommodating, encouraging, and thoughtful to everyone! I’m still amazed at the beauty that we were able to behold in both areas with her guidance. I would definitely recommend our itinerary and Canyon Calling Adventures for Women to everyone, and I hope to go on future trips with them.
— Linda Modena
Day 6
After breakfast we’ll head out early to beat the crowds at the Old Faithful area. Before we do, we’ll stop at Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in the US. Yellowstone contains half of the world’s hydrothermal features including over 300 geysers, and often we are lucky enough to see one or two erupt. We’ll stop at Biscuit Basin to see Sapphire Pool, and all the bubbling mud pots. Next it’s on to Old Faithful to see this iconic geyser erupt to cheers of delight. We’ll enjoy the Inn, walk the geyser boardwalk, and get some great photos as we watch in wonder at the eruptions around us. After lunch, we’ll make our way south to Jackson where we’ll check into our lodging and have some free time to explore this fun town. A yummy Farewell dinner is planned as we recant our favorite moments of this wonderful week together! Overnight Jackson Hole.
All I can say is WOW! This trip exceeded all my expectations and helped me rediscover my authentic self. See you in the Rockies!
